FENG LU, rushed into contention soon after the start and taken in hand rounding the far turn, responded to strong urging when straightened out in the final drive and wore down CLASHMAN in the last seventy yards. The latter disposed of ANN TERRY in the first three-eighths, was placed under strong pressure in the final eighth, but was not good enough. FRITZ W. moved into contention with a rush, but was unable to menace the leaders in the final drive. SUPREME KISS had no excuses. TROOPERETTE broke fast, but dropped out of it after an eighth. BELLE OF MIDWAY, showing a liking for the going and under good handling, moved to the leaders with a rush turning into the stretch, moved into command reaching the final eighth and was drawing clear at the end. IMPERIAL LU, in hand while saving ground, took a short lead in the final quarter, but was not good enough. IMPERIAL POLLY, hard hustled from the start, tired in the drive, but outstayed LEROS. The latter, also under hard urging in the early stages, had nothing left for the final quarter. WILD BLONDE had no excuses. MISS AUFEW unseated her jockey while at the post, ran away three-quarters of a mile and jumped the fence, inflicting injuries, and was excused from the race.
