] FAIRMOUNT PARK NOTES f Eddie Griffin, custodian of the jockey room at Fairmount, reported that forty riders had checked in at an early hour Monday. Trainer Chester OMalley arrived from Churchill Downs Sunday with the horses Powers Gouraud and Kai-Wasp, the property of J. E. Church. Otis Clelland arrived Sunday with sixteen head and reported jockey W. L. Johnson will come in Tuesday. Johnson had several riding engagements on the closing Churchill Downs program. At the suggestion of E. L. Prague, member of the Fairmount Jockey Club staff, the public address announcer at the track will broadcast an appeal for safe driving daily. State, county and city traffic officers were most appreciative of the Prague idea. Jack Klucinia and Ralph Stubbs are assisting in the office of racing secretary Leigh. Stubbs is also a member of the mu-tuel staff. Trainer B. Young reported that the bay gelding Parnell Pirate broke a leg while breaking out of the gate Monday morning. The horse was the property of Earl A. Krat-zer. The horses of H. Bensinger arrived from Louisville late Sunday and included in the shipment were Sun Hour, Lassie Flo, Mr. Shot, Hinkey Dink, Comet o Jack and Miss Entry. W. Wilkinson will handle the Ben-singer horses at Fairmount. Despite the heavy rains of the past two weeks, John LeBlanc, track superintendent, had the racing strip and grounds at Fair-mount in top condition for the opening. Willie Davenport, veteran admission ticket man, is back on the job at Fairmount with a capable group of assistants. Charles Eddy and George Demarest will have charge of the accounting department at the meeting with Mr. Eddy handling the horsemens ledger. Apprentice H. Litzenberger arrived from Aurora and will do the riding for P. H. Vans Snowflake Stable. William Haljean will make the outside engagements for Litzenberger. Joe McClymon arrived with a division of the F. Seremba stable. The shipment included five head, all of which had raced at the recent Aurora meeting. Among the jockeys coming in Saturday were J. Dyer, from Aurora, and A. Schlenker, also from that point.
