MORE POISE TRIUMPHS WHEELING, W. Va., May 30.— Crowd records fell when 18,000 saw Miss C. C. Morros More Poise, with the veteran jockey Johnny Leyland up, drive to a surprise victory in | the Memorial Day Purse, the five furlongs I holiday feature here this afternoon. The crowd passed the previous mark, set on La-! bor Day last fall, by more than 2,000. Appar-! ently overlooked, despite his fine record in Maryland and Florida, More Poise went to the post an 8 to 1 shot in the field of five. He came from far back and drove to a handy two lengths score over Black Anna, while another length away Tempting Witch, the public choice, was a laboring third.
