CHICLE T., rushed to the front on the outside, was steered to the inside when clear, responded to strong urging when threatened in the stretch and bore out near the end, but held NEAT PLAY safe. The latter, hustled along from the start, offered a bold bid midway of the stretch, but tired after being carried wide by the winner. BUFF RYAN, a strong factor throughout, tired in the last stages. MR. BROOK made up ground in the drive. MY GRETCHEN showed little. THE KNITTER began slowly and was outrun. SCIOTO RIVER and SALLY SAXON were never factors. DIE HARD, never far back and steadied along when outrun, was steered to the inside on the stretch turn, responded to good urging when wearing down HIGH COLOR and won easily. The latter sprinted into a clear lead early, increased his margin when roused, swung wide entering the stretch and tired after five-eighths. BLAGDEN, badly ridden and a strong factor from the start, was forced wide on the stretch turn and finished under his own courage. ZEVPHINE made up ground on the inside. MISS WISE, unable to improve her early position, gave way under strong pressure. The others were never factors. Corrected weight — Colleen Donn, 108; Northern Slip, 113. PORTDEN rushed into a clear lead during the opening quarter, was steadied along for a half mile, was put to strong urging when challenged, gave way in the stretch, came again in the last stages and was drawing away under pressure. NESSUS, much the best under inexperienced handling, was a strong factor from the start, forged to the front nearing the final eighth and was eased up after the end of a mile SISTER JEAN, far back for three-quarters, closed with a rush. FRISCO KID, rank, swerved slightly soon after the start, moved up rapidly on the inside leaving the back stretch and tired in the last stages. CECIL B. was outrun. HUSTLE ALONG was also outrun. JUST HIGH raced wide and finished well. SKY LAD tired. TRAMWAY had no mishaps. THISTLE RED dropped out of contention soon after the start. Corrected weight — Tramway, 117. TEMPESTUOUS, reserved early, wore down KINGS HEIR nearing the final quarter, was unable to draw clear and failed to withstand the winner, but was much the best of the others. KINGS HEIR, rushed into a commanding lead during the opening five-sixteenths, was put to strong urging when challenged, but tired in the drive. GYRAL finished fast. ZEVSON finished in close quarters. The latter, rushed into a good lead during the opening quarter, was put to strong urging rounding the far turn, then tired in the drive and just failed to last. ODDESAS PRIDE, outrun early, improved his position rapidly thereafter, was in close quarters in the drive and tired near the end. BLOND SPOOK made up ground in the drive. BRILLIANT BLUE, steadied along for five eighths, responded gamely when called upon, was in close quarters in the drive and tired rapidly in the last stages. IVORY TIP dropped back after five-eighths and came again in the drive. ZINNIA quit. LOWRY had early speed.
