BROWN MARVEL, well handled, was rated along back of the pace during the opening three-eighths, weaved his way through the field and. taking command with a rush, was vicorously ridden through the late stages, but had enough left to hold safe the bid of WINTER SPORT. The latter, far back during the first half mile, after breaking alertly, was under punishment in an effort to improve his position, began to give improved speed on the outside through the last three-sixteenths and closed wearing down the winner. FAIR SCOUT forced the early pace, held on well but was unable to match strides with the first two when challenged. LADDIE STONE dwelt slightly after taking the opening stride, was soon back in stride and moved up fast down the back stretch, but was unable to enter seriously into contention. JAMES CITY displayed good speed pacemaking. but gave way badly after being supplanted from command. Scratched— 57681 Likewise, 118. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. The latter worked his way up gradually after leaving the back stretch, came through on the inside at the stretch turn and. closing fast, just failed to be up in time.
