AUCTION CREW FOR SARATOGA Tranter Lines Up Staff for Famous Sales Which Will Take Place During Spa Meeting. LEXINGTON, Ky., May 30.— E. J. Tranters auctioneering staff for the Fasig-Tipton Company sales of yearlings at Saratoga Springs in August will be "Doc" Bond of Versailles, "Brownie" Leach of Lexington as announcer and Melvin Carter of Frankfort as groundman. These are all young up-and-coming men. Bond, whose father was a great auctioneer, has had two seasons experience at Saratoga and has well pleased the consignors and customers there, as he has also the past two seasons at Lexington. "Brownie" Leach made his initial appearance as an announcer at the Lexington sales paddock auction last October in the stand with Bond, and his satisfactory work there brought him this appointment at Saratoga. Carter, famous as a real estate, cattle, sheep and strawberry auctioneer, is having his first assignment in connection with sales of thoroughbred horses. The office staff at Saratoga in August will be as usual. Peter Goode will begin getting the arena, stables and yards in shape about June 1. Yearlings will begin to arrive from Kentucky, Virginia and Maryland about sixty days hence.
