LAWRIN STARTS WEST TODAY Kentucky Derby Winner May Be a Participant With Dauber in Match Race at Hollywood Park. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 30.— Lawrin, Herbert M. Woolfs home-bred winner of the sixty-fourth Kentucky Derby, and eleven stable companions, start West tomorrow from Churchill Downs for the new course of the Hollywood Turf Club in California. There the Kentucky Derby hero faces a series of engagements as he is scheduled to start in the 0,000 Hollywood Gold Cup, the 5,000 Hollywood Derby and possibly a special race in which he and the Preakness winner, Dauber, may meet for the first time since the Kentucky Derby in which Dauber finished second. Special efforts to attract Dauber to the Los Angeles track are being made, according to reports from the Coast. With the Hollywood Derby down for decision on July 9 and the Hollywood Gold Cup programmed for a week later, any special event probably would be staged either before those two stakes or on July 23, the final day of the meeting. The Hollywood club opens its new course on June 10 for a season of thirty-three days. In preparation for his Coast engagements, the Kentucky Derby winner breezed seven furlongs on a slow track here this morning in 1:33 Vs. Running very easily, the son of Insco turned the first quarter in :26%, half mile in :52% and three-quarters in 1:19%. Trainer Ben A. Jones, who developed the Woolf star, will supervise his California campaign. Twenty-two others belonging to Woolf get away tomorrow for Lincoln Fields where they will be handled by Leonard Wilson. Several of the stables many stars will be included in the Lincoln Fields unit.
