BROWN MAN, cleverly rated while racing close to the pace, moved to the front when subjected to pressure, stood a long drive gamely, and just lasted to win. LITTLE KIEV, well up from the start, raced LIGHT ZEPHYR into defeat, offered stubborn contention, but was not good enough. GUSTAVIA improved her position gradually, closed resolutely, but was no match for the first two. BARRETTE, outrun for threp-quarters, was taken to the outside in the stretch, responded gamely to strong riding and was gaining in the closing stages. LIGHT ZEPHYR had fine speed for three-quarters, then tired. HIGH DIVER. Sore going to the post, failed to improve his position. BEN D. tired in the stretch. TOO BUSY improved his position gradually, came to the outside for the drive, took command and out-finished ROTHERHAM under strong pressure. ROTHERHAM, slow to get going, was taken to contention on the outside, closed resolutely and was getting to the winner. TUMBLE IN displayed fine speed throughout, offered good contention to the final eighth, then tired. NIGHT GAIL, probably the best, was forced to take up sharply through the back stretch, then was caught in close quarters approaching the stretch, came fast when clear and was going strongest in the final stages. BALLYHOO went well. ALBERTA B. tired after reaching contention. BLANCHE C. quit. SUN CAPRICE was outrun. PRINCE BALLOT quit. GANNONNIC tired. Overweight— Too Busy, 4 pounds; Rotherham, 1; Alberta B., 1; Gannonnic, 2.
