HIGH REGARD FOR WAR MAGIC Howard Oots Names Pharamond II. Colt for Delaware Stakes. Colts Dam Is War Feathers, Which Cost James Cox Brady 0,500 as a Yearling: Filly. WILMINGTON, Del., May 30.— The veteran Kentucky horseman, Howard Oots, must think there are possibilities in War Magic a three-year-old son of Pharamond II. and War Feathers, he has brought to Delaware Park for the twenty-eight days racing that will begin June 8th, to race under the silks of James Cox Brady. He has named War Magic for the Wilmington, Kent and Bran-dywine Handicaps and the Diamond State Stakes and left him out of only one of the big specials for three-year-olds and three-year-olds and over that will be decided in the course of the meeting, namely the 0,000 Sussex Handicap, a gallop of one mile and a quarter that will be the getaway day feature, July 9th. Other horses of the string, the immediate training of which will be done by Charles Huber, are Bradys three-year-old Bold Stroke, his two-year olds Fair Alice, Vinola, War Plumage and Pollinate, and Thomas D. Taggarts five-year-old mare Marica. War Plumage is in the Polly Drummond Stakes, Pollinate in the Dover and Christiana and Marica in the Newcastle and Sussex Handicaps. SECOND STAGEHAND? War Magic may be another Stagehand. His two-year-old form was better than Stagehands. Stagehand raced eight times without winning. War Magic raced six times winning one race fair and square and getting first money in another at Saratoga through disqualification of Evening Shadow, which beat him a head at five and a half furlongs. His honest win was scored in a dash of six furlongs at Hawthorne in which he tow-roped Alup, Rocky Road, Puddin and some others. War Magics dam, War Feathers, cost I more money than any other yearling filly I sold at auction or in any other way in this, country. The late Admiral Grayson sent her to the block at Saratoga and she brought 0,500, her purchaser having been the current J. C. Bradys father. Oots trained her and as a race horse she was a complete flop. But she has made amends handsomely in production. Besides foaling this promising three-year-old she is the mother of the important winners Brown Feathers and War Minstrel. She may do better still. She is still young. SIRES ARE BROTHERS. Sickle, Stagehands daddy, and Pharamond II., War Magics sire, are own brothers. Moreover Stagecraft, the mother of Stagehand, is a daughter of Fair Play while L War Feathers is a granddaughter of that fcjpuissant stallion through his greatest son j and a far greater horse than he was him-W self. Not improbably Oots and Huber will * have War Magic ready for the Wilmington Handicap, a ,000 dash of six furlongs for three-year-olds and over that will be the first days feature, June 8th. The colt arrived at Delaware Park in splendid condition and has been going well since he got there. The two-year-olds are untried. Bold Stroke is a three-year-old son of Sir Greysteel, Brady bought at the Labrot sale last year. He is a maiden, but he has only started three times. Marica, a daughter of Epinard and Canberra, is a first class handicap horse. She won a Breeders Stakes, one mile and a quarter, at Keeneland last fall and revivals of the Crete, Arlington Matron and Peabody Memorial Handicaps earlier in the season.
