NOVEL AND UNIQUE TRACK The new Hollywood track at Ingleside, Calif., is one mile in circumference, with two chutes, one at seven-eighths, the other at three-eights. The track is 90 feet wide throughout. The area is 315 acres, the main grandstand will seat 30,000, the parking area is 170 acres and the stable capacity is 1,250 stalls. An innovation is the enclosed paddock — it is a round amphitheater, encircled by steps where 3,500 can stand comfortably to watch the contestants being saddled. This paddock is unique, I doubt if there be anything like j it the world over. In appearance it is a gigantic bowl, rows of steps recede from the paddock floor, they are fitted with rails, and here the onlookers gather to ob- I i serve the horses. From their elevated po-1 sitions they can witness every move. The j horses enter, the. paddock, through, wide "daylight" tunnels and depart for the parade through a similar tunnel. The jockeys enter from the nearby jockey quarters, sound-proofing renders the paddock immune from outside noises and tote boards and mutuel windows are adjacent to serve j those desiring to wager.
