Warship Seen Favorite In Garden State Event Has Chaldean as Main Rival In Haddon Heights Purse GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 9. — An allowance event over the six-furlong distance styled the Haddon Heights is offered as the featured number for tomorrow. Eight were named for this event, recruited from the ranks of four-year-olds and over that had never won two races other than maiden or claiming at any time. This event is the sole exception of the eight programmed that will not be under claiming conditions. Of the octet in the featured offering, six will be handled by more experienced rider* while two, Warship and Chaldean, will bt entrusted to apprentices. Under the matter of weights, there is little to choose. Trainer Preston Burch has named Warship for this offering and the Brookmeade representative shapes up as the one that will occupy the post of favoritism. Warship will be handled by Charles Martens and in addition to some good trials here, has a bang-up effort at Jamaica to his credit. At that egg-shaped oval, on New Yorks outskirts, he finished second to A. G. Vanderbilts Final Touch. He was entered for 0,000 that afternoon and a return to that effort would assure victory here. Withastar and Sir Rusty loom up as the contenders, with the first named representing W. M. Wickham, the one to fear most. Sir Rusty is owned by the Raritan Stable. The others named are Fresh Breeze, owned by J. Tucci; Margaret E., racing for G. R. Watkins; W. S. Homes Cunning Miss, W. G. Helis Final Curtain, and Chaldean, owned by Mrs. A. Mazzeo. The other races on the card, especially those under the cheaper claiming price tags, attracted bulky fields. The first and second, Daily Double races, saw in addition to the "also eligible" list, the excluded list in use. Thirty-five were placed on the excluded list in the opener. This event was for four-year-olds and over at six furlongs. The second race, a five-furlong affair under claiming conditions, saw four on the "also eligible" and one on the excluded list. This event is for maiden two-year-olds. In point of interest, the fifth race for four-year-olds under claiming conditions will attract considerable support. This brings together some of the higher-priced representatives from that classification.
