IN EARNEST swung slightly wide on the first turn, forced the pace on the outside and weakened. WAYNE S. had brief speed. SKYWAVE lost some ground while prominent and tired. PAPER CLIP, steadied along early, went up on the rail to engage the leader, took command and drew away under mild pressure. R. L. LIGHT lost ground most of the way and outfinished SEAMANS PAL for the place. The latter gave way after making the pace for five furlongs. RIPPLING SAND had no mishap. MANNEQUIN raced wide most of the way. POPPA GEORGE was pinched off and stumbled badly while on the rail going into the first turn. BIT 0* PROSE made up ground steadily on the inside, went up on the outside for the drive and wore down CONNIES BOY. The latter faltered near the end after making the pace. HALCYON DUKE, forced very wide on the first turn, went up with a rush in the closing furlong. EXCELSIS, bumped at the start, ran out on the first turn and lacked room through the stretch. SIR BOB was prominent from the start, took command when called upon and, drifting out in the final sixteenth, lasted over OSWEGO DR. The latter was carried wide on the first turn, made up ground steadily on the outside and, carried out slightly in the final sixteenth, showed a good effort. STRAETH made the pace on the rail for six furlongs and weakened. DONNA L. failed to respond when called upon. EMPUJON had no excuse. RAFFLE HOUSE gave way after six furlongs. HAPPY PILOT tired.
