Swallow Tail Accounts for Chester Vase in England CHESTER, England, May 9 Reuters .— Lord Derbys three-year-old colt, Swallow Tail, by Bois Roussel — Schiaparelli, second favorite for the Epsom Derby, had his first outing of the season in the Chester Vase here, run over 13 furlongs and won easily. Starting at 2 to 5, he took the lead about four furlongs from home to beat Aga Khans Moon Dust by six lengths with Lord Roseberys Forethought third of four runners. Although the opposition was not strong. Swallow Tails victory was handsomely gained as jockey D. Smith did not allow him to dawdle once he took the lead. Earlier in the afternoon, the American sportsman, Robert Clarks gray two-year-old filly, Mary Phyllis, by Mahmoud — Jezebel II., led from start to finish to win the Sceptro Stakes. She won by five lengths. Mary Phyllis is an American-bred and was trained by Joe Lawson, who prepared Galatea to win the Epsom Oaks for Clark.
