SIGNAL CODE, a prominent factor from the beginning, assumed command entering the stretch and steadily increased his advantage thereafter when ridden out. INDIAN GOLD responded gamely when called upon nearing the furlong marker and, though no match for the winner, was easily best of the others. LITTLE TULIP saved ground throughout, but could not seriously menace the top ones. DASHA failed to make up appreciable ground when roused for the drive. SEVENTY-SEVEN was squeezed back at the start and lost all chance. GRANNY D. quit badly once displaced. POWELLS OUT had no excuse. BARUDIE was outrun. PRINCE TOM failed to stay after racing forwardly to the stretch. BOLD SIS could not keep up PICABU UNSEATED HER RIDER AT THE POST, RAN OFF AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE STEWARDS. MILL CAT, slow to reach her best stride, came between horses when roused for the stretch run and was up in the final strides to dispose of UNCLE DREW. The latter disposed of BONNE FOI on the far turn, made the pace until inside the stretch under steady rating, but weakened during the late stages and could not hold the winner. LADY SHIRLEY moved up gamely approaching the furlong marker, then tired under punishment. FLINT HEART lacked a closing rally. FOXY PATE lacked speed. BONNE FOI quit. COON TAIL was done early. BASLA, unhurried when outrun for a half mile, took command with a rush when called upon for the drive and drew clear under brisk handling. MISSAB was never far back, but failed to respond when called upon for her best effort. SCAPAGAL was taken back from the early pace, reached the lead on the far turn, but faltered when set down for the stretch run. BENEELOBE drifted out extremely wide on the upper turn and was forced to take the overland route when* making his stretch bid. MAHSHELL failed to stay after displaying good early speed. STELLA SNYDER remained within striking distance of the early leaders, came out to the middle of the track for the drive and, after reaching the lead midway of the drive, was drawing away at the finish. DARBY DIMOUT raced forwardly placed throughout, but tired under pressure. SWESTEEL was shuffled back on the near turn, then could not seriously menace when clear.
