GreentreeThoroughbred Wins Film Class Award Short Named in National Poll By Scholastic Teacher Magazine NEW YORK, N. Y., June 24. — A 22-minute color film entitled Greentree Thoroughbred," a documentary of the operations of Greentree Farm at Lexington, Ky., has been named among the years top 10 productions in its class in a national poll by the editors of Scholastic Teacher Magazine. The film,, made by Bernard Livingston Productions of Westport, Conn., and sponsored by John Hay Whitney and his sister, Mrs. Charles Shipman Payson, owners of Greentree, demonstrates the work/ plans and efforts in producing a champion thoroughbred and is being shown u agriculture and veterinary schools throughout the* country. A highlight of the film is the actual breeding of a Greentree broodmare and the birth of her foal, which shows the resources of the" farm and the care and skill of/ scientific breeders. The film traces the career of the thoroughbreds from yearlings until, as two-year-olds, they are sent to the Greentree training farm at Aiken, S. C, for schooling and final preparation for the races. One of Greentrees greatest, Capot, also is shown scoring one of his greatest successes at Belmont Park. The film also recently was awarded second prize in the fourth annual festival of the Stamford,, Conn., Film Council. Technical advisers for the production were John Gaver, Greentree trainer, and Clarkson Beard. The script was written and narrated by Joe H. Palmer, late turf writer for the New York Herald-Tribune. e
