CLEAR SWEEP gained gradually while not being hard urged and, coming very fast through the last furlong when called upon, caught SPEEDRITE tiring near the finish to win going away. SPEEDRITE beat the others away and opened up a. long lead after leaving the backstretch, but tired badly near the end and just lasted to hold VIRGINIA OAKS. The latter moved well in the stretch, but was in close quarters, then continued gamely to finish strongly. MR. BLUE SKY was going fairly well at the end. Won driving; second and third the same, FLOYD E. gained an advantageous position after going half the distance, and coming strongly on the outside through the stretch, wore down the early leaders to get up in a drive. SKY PRINCESS was bothered going to the first turn when MR. BOB came out, but was eased back to save ground rounding the turn and getting to the front on the backstretch, held on fairly well. LITTLE OPENER was a good contender from the start and saved ground on the stretch turn to show in front, but faltered in the final drive. SAY-BELLE was forced very wide when MR. BOB bolted on the first turn, but raced well thereafter. MR. BOB bolted on the first turn and had to be taken in hand to be straightened out. PRINCE ADARIS also suffered on the first turn.
