► : Norman Hart Escapes Serious Injury in River Downs Fall RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 24. — A spectacular spill right before the eyes of most of the 5,016 at River Downs today marred the running of the third race of the day which was eventually won by R. Langsdorfs The Evener. Jockey Norman Hart, who had handled the winner of the first race, was caught in close quarters immediately after the start of the mile and 70 yard race and his mount, Marsis, appeared to cross his legs and threw the youngster into the middle of 12 horses sprinting for position at the first turn. Hart went into the midst of flying hooves and heels which caused gasps to ripple through the crowd, which feared the worst, but a postrace examination by*track physician R. R. Hill revealed nothing more serious than small abrasions of the chest and a good shaking-up for the youngster, who, last season, was one of the leading apprentices in the West Virginia-Ohio area. Hart canceled his remaining mounts on the program in a precautionary move but will probably not be sidelined long. Harry Hol-comb rode a fine, waiting race on The Evener, who came from last place to win by a neck and returned 8.80
