Seven Middle Distance Runners Seek Sandusky Miss Ella, Fleet Cross to Vie For Favoritism at Cranwood CRANWOOD PA R K , Warrensville Heights, Ohio, June 24. — The Sandusky Purse, at six furlongs, is the headline attraction here at the Miles Road course tomorrow afternoon. A field of seven middle distance runners has been named overnight and it shapes up as a very interesting event. Any member of the field may be claimed for ,000. Mrs. A. A. Dunbars *Miss Ella and C. E. Hadlocks Fleet Cross will probably vie for the major portion of the play ui this event. Both have had very good races over the local course and are well suited at six furlongs. Slated to face those two are Ivy Boy, Irrawaddy, Ball the Jack, Midland Gent and Your Highness. Miss Ella, to be ridden by Ray L. Hight-shoe, was second in her last outing at seven furlongs when she was defeated by Locadah by a head. Time for that race was an excellent 1:29%. She was forwardly placed, from the outset and led at the furlong marker by a half length. The winning horse had been racing against the best at Ascot Park and had to be fully extended to earn the decision against Miss Ella. Fleet Cross was also second in his last race. On June 15 he ran three-quarters of a length behind Valley Doctor. He was flying at the end making, up a length and one-quarter in the final furlong. Fleet Cross time was Al% for the four furlongs which is only a shade over the track record. The five-year-old son of Charing Cross has now gpne winless since late in the Ascot Park meeting and is overdue. Mrs. J. B. Burnetts Irrawaddy can turn it on in the early going and figures to be on top for at least the first quarter and may hang on a bit longer. He last raced here on June 13 and held the lead to just above the furlong marker winding up fourth at the wire beaten five and one-quarter lengths. That was the geldings only race over this course, but was a winner at Ascot Park on June 2 when in a sprint offering- he beat Dr. Pentick by a half length. Your Highness, to be ridden by Rollin Reynolds, did not show much in his two local races, but figures to improve greatly here. At Fort Miami, the Donate color-bearer performed capably winning twice and running a close second to Alfred Boulder who was considered the best horse at that meeting. The Jack High mare has won three races thus far in 53 ancflast season was a Useful sort at Wheeling Downs. Bodnar Brothers Ball the Jack ran a few good races early in the spring, but would have" to improve greatly to win this event. Ivy Boy is better suited at a half mile.
