Rough n Tumble Returning to Action Meets Seven Rivals In Arlington Sprint Lextown Also Starting on Comeback Trail; Joe Graves And Roman Bath Contenders, ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington, Heights, 111., June 24. — Mrs. Frances Genters Rough n Tumble, a top stakes winner as a three-year-old, returns to the racing wars here tomorrow when he takes part in the Brunswick Purse, one of the features of the afternoon. It is going on two years since the one-time Santa Anita Derby winner appeared in competition, but trainer Melvin Calvert believes the horse is now as sound as ever, and sent him a good half mile this morning in preparation for tomorrows race. The Brunswick, an allowance affair at six furlongs, finds seven others also entered. Rough n Tumble will handle 114 pounds in the Brunswick, with five others carrying a like burden. They are Lextown, who will be ridden by jockey Eddie Arcaro, Kingly, who will have Johnny Adams in the saddle, Roman Bath, with Ronnie Baldwin up, and Jet Ace and Blue Licks. The rider for Rough n Tumble was not named at entry time. Roman Bath Raced in Florida Rough n Tumble made his last appearance at Washington Park in August of 1951 and finished unplaced. Roman Bath was a winner at Sunshine Park, Florida, during the past winter and has not raced since February, but his recent three-eighths move in : 35 is indicative of fitness. Jet Ace scored his last victory at Churchill Downs, and was unplaced four times at the Lincoln Fields meeting. Valley View Farms Lextown is another returning to competition after a long absence. The Littletown stallion last raced at Hawthorne on October 10, 1951, when he scored a front-running victory in a six-furldng dash, run in 1:11%. The companion feature here tomorrow will be the Whitehall Purse at one mile for three-year-olds. Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s, Oil Gusher, a winner at Lincoln Fields, and Mrs. H. L. Nathensons Force of Arms are topweighted with 117 pounds each, and Adams will be on Force of Arms, who won at one and one-sixteenth miles at the Lincoln session. Others in the field are Teds Jeep, Incarnation, a recent winner, Cherokee Pilot, who was twice successful at Sportsmans Park, Pussy Cat, who went well last time out, and Blended and Welcome Guest. Meanwhile, the hurdling gentry has been busy here preparing for the Arlington Park Hurdle Stakes down for decision Friday. This event, in which interest is increasing every year, has attracted a record 23 nominees this season. The race is sponsored jointly by the Arlington Park Jockey Club and the Midwest Hunts Racing Association.
