SAFLO, slow to gain best stride, rallied too late to seriously endanger the top one. LOBLOLLY, far back early, passed tiring horses when hard hustled through the final furlong. MAD MAID, a sharp factor from the beginning, disposed of SUNNY FOX midway the final furlong and under brisk urging gamely withstood TEMM. The latter responded readily after being guided to the inside for the drive and, gradually was getting to the winner. SUNNY FOX drifted out steadily while tiring during the drive and was unable to hold the. top ones. MONTE CASSINO failed to, make up appreciable ground. WAR-ASTER was unable to attain the lead and tired. ST. REGIS never threatened. QUERY was through early. Overweight War-Aster, 3 pounds. BLANDYSTONE was allowed to settle into best stride while fencing cleverly early, took command with a rush when called upon and steadily increased his advantage under intermittent urging. GOLDEN FURLONG recovered gamely after hobbling badly at the first jump, was sent -into the runner-up position on the final turn and, though unable to overtake" the winner, easily prevailed over the others. IRISH EASTER was unable to improve his position when briskly handled through the late stages. CHERWELL passed tiring horses. SEMPER EADEM stumbled and almost lost his rider at the sixth obstacle and failed to sufficiently recover. ESCARGOT, much used early, had little left. BAN.D LEADER quit. KITE repelled repeated challenges from FANCY BONNET while holding sway to the stretch, shortened stride slightly during the drive, but had enough left to outlast THIS SIDE. The latter saved ground when outrun early, was guided to the outside for the drive and closed with good energy. FANCY BONNET displayed good early speed while racing on the outside of the winner, but failed to respond when punished. WONDERFUL YOU made up some ground when hard ridden through the final furlong. DINEWISELY, low to gain best stride, was unable to become an endangering factor when briskly ridden through the final urlong. MING YELLOW, far back early as usual, lacked ample racing room at the head of the stretch, then allied too belatedly when clear. HOME-MADE tired. VALADIUM was always outrun. NOTHIRDCHANCE quit. SHAMROCK, slow to gain best stride, came to the complete outside for the stretch un and closed fastest of all in a sharp effort. OPEN SHOW slipped through next to the inner rail to take . :ommand at the furlong marker, then gave way suddenly when punished. VIOLINIST gave way suddenly when punished. ROSEBOROUGH dropped from contention immediately after the start. STRIKER PILOT sulked during the running and refused to extend himself.
