Jim McDonald, right handed curve-balldr, hurled a four-hit shutout today as the world champion Yankees racked up their eightieth victory of the campaign by defeating the Senators, 2-0. The Yankees picked up one run in the fourth on Yogi Berras twenty-third home run of the year and another in the fifth on three hits, one a single by Gil McDougald with two out which scored Bill Renna from third base. Berras homer, a towering clout of 420 feet into the right field bleachers, came with two out in the fourth and was the first Yankee hit off southpaw Al Sima, who was charged with his third defeat against one victory. Renna Opens With Double In the fifth, Renna opened with a double and went to third on Billy Martins infield single. Then, after two. were out, McDougald rifled a single through the box for the Yankees fourth and- last hit of the game. McDonald, however, worked his way out of trouble by forcing Gil Coan to pop up to- the infield and retired Jim Busby on a force out. Except for the two innings in which the Yankees scored, Sima handcuffed the world champions with his curves and sliders until lifted for pinchhitter Clyde Vollmer in the eighth.
