MIDNIGHT QUEEN, forwardly placed on the outside, assumed command before a mile, drew clear and shook off the bid of BASSINGTON at the furlong pole and was drawing out at the end. The latter moved through along the inside to gain forward position early, remained close. jup while in hand, challenged for the lead in the stretch, but was not good enough. GEE WHIZ rallied when sent up on the. outside, but was unable to make up ground in the stretch. TEL-AVIV closed ground from off the pace. BOBBY NOVECK was going well at the end. BINKY B. weakened after six furlongs. STARK TWINS was unable to keep up. GRACE MAE was caught in close quarters and eased back. INSINUATION was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. LONE PILOT established the pace under steadying restraint, held on gamely wjien challenged and weakened nea rthe end. GOLDSBORO closed ground in the late stages.
