Arab Arab Actress Actress Tallies Tallies in in Misty Misty Isle; Isle; Plan Plan Fast Fast Work Work for for Dancer Dancer Today Today Arcaro Will Be Up In Morning Trial Champion Gallops Around Track Twice; Field of Nine Likely for American Derby WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., Aug. 19. Eddie Arcaro, generally regarded as Americas premier reinsman, and Native Dancer, undisputed champion of the three-year-old division, are scheduled for a preliminary get-acquainted session tomorrow morning at Washington Park, where the gray speedster is to get his initial speed test since arriving from New York yesterday morning. Trainer Bill Winfrey this morning stated that Native Dancer will work out "about five-eighths of a mile" at a fast clip, and that he will probably be allowed to gallop out an additional eighth as his final prep for Saturdays 00,000 American Derby. Arcaro is to be in the saddle in the early-morning spin, which is carded for 8:00 Continued on Page Forty-Four Native Dancer Scheduled For Fast Workout Today Will Go About Five Furlongs With Arcaro Up for First Time Continued from Page One oclock. He was committed to pilot Jamie K., but when the latter was declared from the American Derby, it paved the way for him to accept the mount on Native Dancer. Arcaro has never been on Native Dancers back, and Winfrey reasons that the jockey possibly will benefit both himself and the horse by "getting the feel of things" tomorrow morning. Winfrey this morning expressed complete satisfaction with all conditions. He said that the weather turned cool just in time for him to ship here from Saratoga, where it has been warm and humid, and this had a tendency to make the trip easier on Native Dancer. This morning Native Dancer was galloped twice around the track, "to take some Of that friskiness out of him," as Winfrey put it. The Dancers regular exercise boy, Bernie Everson, was in the saddle, and a multitude of railbirds watched the move. Presently it is expected that there will be seven betting interests in the Derby. Beachcomber, Native Dancers stablemate in the Vanderbilt barn, is regarded as a certain starter; Platan and Stan will form the Hasty House team, and the others intended to start are James Cox Bradys Landlocked, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniels Ace Destroyer, Duntreath Farms Van Crosby, Harry N. Eads Sir Mango, and H. C. Fruehaufs Precious Stone. Also there are one or two doubtful starters. These include Devilment, of Dixiana. Trainer Jack Hodgins said today he was extremely disappointed by Devilments showing in the American Derby Prep on Monday. However, he has not abandoned his original idea of starting the horse. All of the De,rby candidates this morning either walked under their sheds or were restricted to easy gallops around the track. Tomorrow morning, however, the tempo will quicken with most of them scheduled for exacting speed tests. Those who do not work against the watch tomorrow will be tested on Friday.
