Vantage Topweighted in Turf Event Vies With Sextet At Homewood Oval Gives The Eagle Two and Kingly Six Pounds While Carrying 120 in Lockport WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., Aug. 19. A classified handicap to be run on the turf at one and one-sixteenth miles and to be known as the Lockport, will bring out a small but clever field of seven grass horses here tomorrow. - The Duntreath Farm will send out an entry in The Eagle, track record holder at Arlington Park, and False, an Illinois-bred, who has won some stakes, while others in the line-up are Dance Nsing, Vantage, Night Phara, Stoner Creek and Kingly. Vantage, owned by Marion VanBerg and who recently finished third to Stan and Brush Burn in the Grassland Handicap after having made the pace into the stretch, will carry highweight of 120 pounds. This one usually gives a good ac- count of himself. Prior to his Grassland venture he was second to Jampol on the grass, and beat The Eagle and Kingly, and opening day trimmed Eljay, who was later third in the Clang, at one mile. Vantage will be ridden by Heckmann. The Eagle, with 118 pounds, will have the services of Eddie Arcaro. The five-year-old whose best race of the season was his record shattering mile and one-sixteenth grass effort at Arlington Park early in that meeting, was fifth in the Grassland and fourth in the race won by Jampol. He was second to Abbe Sting inV-he Laurance Armour Memorial, and fourth in the Stars and Stripes, also taken by Abbe Sting. Started in Armour Memorial False was not started in Chicago since the Armour Memorial in which s he finished sixth. That is his only race since coming here from Detroit where he was purchased by his present owner from the Mikels, who bred him. Kingly has raced fairly well in all five starts hereabouts. He will have 114 pounds and apprentice Lay-ton Risley will be up. Kingly was third in the race taken by Jampol and was third to Mon-Pharo in a grass sprint. Dance Nsing, good racer from the Bud-dah Stable, wound up in fourth place in the Grassland. He will have the services of jockey W. M. Cook and will carry 112 pounds. The son of Seven Hearts won a middle distance grass race at Arlington and was fourth in another. Night-Phara has not started here. She was third to Bella Figura in the Modesty at Arlington, and second to Jubling in another effort and third to Roaming in still another. Stoner Creek was a winner at one mile over the Arlington strip, beating Aesthete and Big Stretch. He was unplaced in his last try here, which was over the main strip. The secondary feature of the day will be a mile and three-quarters optional claiming race, named the Wishful, which will also be run on the .turf. Arcaro will ride the Irish-bred Bois DArc in this and that one will carry 122 pounds. Bois DArc won a grass marathon here in his first start, and was later third to Penaway in another. Famous Corner has taken two distance races in succession and will be running for a new owner. Others in the field are The Flier, Petes Vigil, Idle Platter, Druids Lyrics, and Fixed Star, the latter the winner of two long distance races on the grass at Arlington. The purse for -the Wishful is ,000.
