Honor East Liverpool At Randall Park Today Eland Clashes With Our Jan, Aunt Dinah, Midst in Feature RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, Aug. 19. The City of East Liverpool, Ohio, will be honored with a day here at Randall Park tomorrow afternoon. Mayor .Devon of East Liverpool and Van- Lane, leading sportscaster of that city, will be on hand to make presentations following the feature race which has been named the East Liverpool. Tomorrow is also Jockeys Guild Day and the fifth race which is for two-year-olds has been named for that organization. In the feature Stanley Greene, Jr., has entered Eland and Kensington Ted who are both scheduled starters here this afternoon. Others slated to go postward in the East Liverpool are Aubrey A. Fishbacks Midst, G. Gravitts Aunt Dinah, Anthony Graffagninis Scairt Rabbit, Mrs. H. L. Nathansons Our Jan, and Earl Browns Cross End. The race is at six furlongs. Eland, who belongs to Jerry Lynch, will have many backers in attendance and may go to the post a lukewarm choice. In his last race here, which was in the Cuyahoga Handicap No. 2, he finished sixth but was only beaten a little more than four lengths. Before that encounter Eland had been victorious at a mile and one-sixteenth when he downed Kensington Ted by three parts of a length in 1:45, one of the best times of the current meeting. He also won here earlier in the meeting when over a heavy track going six furlongs he defeated Bubble-stream by a half length. Our Jan, a daughter of Ambrose Light, will be seeking her third straight score over the Randall course. She defeated several members of this field in her last outing in which she won by two lengths going the six furlongs in 1:12 over a fast track. She was never far off the pace moving around Cross End inside the furlong marker- arid then drawing clear under pressure. Aunt Dinah ran one of the fastest three-quarters of the meeting, 1:11, on August 3, when she defeated Columcille by a head, and paid her scattered backers a tidy 1.00. She broke on top in that race and although, tiring in the late stretch had just enough left .to hold sway under apprentice Raymond Zanelli. She has also won at Waterford and Wheeling previously this season. Midst ran a much improved race here the other afternoon when she finished third to Elaine Ruth beaten two and one-lialf lengths. Midst has found the going rough since arriving here at Randall, but could.be the dark horse in here. Scairt Rabbit was last the other day, but was running in much tougher company. The Graffagnini colorbetrer has gone a month now without having won and would have to show a sharp improvement. Cross End finished second in his last race, but was moved into the number one slot when Seguro was disqualified for bumping horses through the stretch. His chances appear quite slim in here.
