This This dash dash nf of five and one-half furlongs for two-year-olds attracted such a crush of entrants it was decided to present it in two divisions, each having the 5,000 added shown in •the conditions. There are 11 in each section, and the stake is to be carded as the sixth and seventh events. Form among the two-year-olds has not been too clearly resolved, which lends a fillip of academic interest to the Primer, and that there are many promising newcomers at Arlington this summer is reflected in the voluminous entries. The first half of the race has C. F. Morriss Munchausen, a clever son of Mighty Story who has won two straight at Lincoln Fields, and the California development Beau Busher, who has made three appearances, winning the last two. There is also Will See, who was disqualified from a stake at Bowie but has nver been worse than second at the finish of any of his six starts. Under the conditions, these three carry topweight of 118 pounds each m their end of the stake, conceding other less accomplished youngsters four pounds! Top Traffic Topweighted The final half of the days headliner has Sam E. Wilson Jr.s lively Top Traffic, who won a division of the Joliet from a large field at Lincoln, including Will See and Munchausen among his beaten rivals Indeed this son of Billings beat Will See with authority when the latter was odds on and he seems assured extensive backing Thursday, even though he is the high-weight under 122 pounds. Opposing him will be Emil Denemarks Prince Eric, a Priam II. colt who is a winner of two, the B and H Stables double winner Rock Pilot [Hasty House Farms Silver Robby and h! j Continued on Page Seven POMACE — Hasty Houses double stake winner at Lincoln Fields goes posrward in the North Western Purse at Arlington Park today. Fruehaufs Jovial. Each of these must carry 118. On the basis of the somewhat sketchy form, Will See, who is shedding four pounds, would seem a fairly logical preference in the sixth, with Top Traffic in the anxious position of the probable favorite in the other. The Primer is but the first of a fabulous roster of 15 coveted stakes at this point. It will be followed on Saturday by the 5,000 "Warren Wright Memorial, which has come to be regarded as a sort of preview to the Classic, and may bring out the Preakness winner Hasty Road. On July 3 there are the 0,000 added Myrtlewood and the 5,000 Cleopatra Handicap, this latter event at a flat mile for three-year-old fillies. Close on the heels of this dual attraction comes another, with the 5,000 Stars and Stripes Handicap on the turf and the 5,000, added Pollyanna Stakes for two-year-old fillies down for decision on July 5. On Saturday, July 10 there are the Hyde Park for two-year-olds and the Modesty Handicap for fillies and mares, each having an endowment of 0,000. The following Monday there is the 5,000 Laurance Armour Memorial Handicap of nine furlongs for three-year-olds and upward. Thereafter, the series of stakes for all divisions come to their climax. The 0,-000 added Lassie for two-year-old fillies will be presented July 14, the 00,000 added Arlington Classic on July 17, the 0,000 added Equipoise Mile on July 21, the 5,000 added Arlington Futurity on July 24, the 0,000 Arlington Matron on July 28 and finally the 00,000 added Arlington Handicap on July 31. This last is billed as the richest turf course event ever, and sort of epitomizes Ben Lindheimers efforts to provide top level competition in this popular context. By the end of the season it appears likely his patrons will have seen virtually all the nations big name horses in action. ■ i The opening day crowd will find Arlington more comfortable and attractive than ever. A battery of 16 escalators, the largest installation of its kind in the world, will convey patrons to any of the five levels and the paddock at the rate of 120 feet per minute. There are new facilities in both the clubhouse and grandstand, doubling the area of the spacious lines in past mers. Everywhere are new refreshment lounge areas, and new decor, all in the mode moderne and the very best taste. Arlington Park now has more than 30,-000 seats, and there are new terraced seat steps on the fourth floor which replace the old, crowded mutuel facilities. From these terraces, the patrons will have an unobstructed view of the entire running of every race equal to that in the press box. Motorists will find the parking facilities have been increased to a capacity of some ► 15,000 more cars, and there is free bus transportation from the more remote areas to the stand. Emergency car repair crews will patrol the lots as in the past, prepared to fix flats and remedy minor motor difficulties. The parking charge is 25 cents, and the admissions .also have been held at very reasonable levels, particularly in view of the racing and comforts, with .20 in the stand and .75 in the clubhouse including all taxes. First post times for the meeting have been established at 2 oclock on weekdays, 1:45 on Saturdays. The North Side course always has had a certain patronage all its own, among those who rarely if ever attend other meets in the area. During the past two years it has drawn heavily upon the crowded Lake Shore and fleets of special race buses will serVe these turf goers. Special* race trains ply between the teeming Loop and the park.
