Forty-Nine Still Eligible To Colorado Breeders Centennial Stake Has ,100 Gross Now; May Reach ,000 LITTLETON, Colo., June 23. — Forty-nine Colorado-bred two-year-olds* remain eligible for the Colorado Breeders Stakes at Centennial, making it not only the richest race ever run for homebred thoroughbreds but the biggest purse of the 50-day meeting starting July 2. Racing officials said all but 14 of the 63 Colorado-bred juveniles" originally nominated were kept eligible by 0 payments before last weeks deadline. With Centennial putting up ,000 for the five and one-half furlongs special on Sept. 11, closing day, the Breeders Stakes already has a gross value of ,100. That includes 30 in nomination fees at 0 each and ,470 in eligibility payments. To be added to the purse is a 5 payment on each starter. If a field of 10 or more goes to the post, the gross will reach nearly ,000. won the Breeders Stakes, the gross purse was ,350. Aldred has one eligible. this year, a gelding by Alcady— Badito Queen named Glue Pot. Like most of the eligibles, Glue Pot has yet to start his first race. Following the second payment, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Taylor of Lamar have the most eligibles with three, Red Shire, Vi-Wyn and Star Port.
