Super Devil Easily Wins Au Revoir Living Doll Second At Lincoln Fields Inseparable, Seaward Entry Disappoint- as 30-Day Meet At Crete Course Terminates By J. J. MURPHY LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., June 23.— The 30-day meeting of the Lincoln Fields Racing Association came to a conclusion here today with 8,015 patrons viewing the sport on a pleasant, seasonable June afternoon. The top attraction for getaway day was the 0,000 added Au Revoir Handicap, worth ,450 to the winner, and Super Devil took down that amount for the Rebel Stable, owned by W. Gruber, New Orleans restaurateur and trained by Milton Resseguet, also of the Crescent City. Super Devil, making his second start here, won by fourth lengths from Living Doll, the extreme outsider, with Inseparable, one of the favored Hasty House Farms entry, being third. Seaward, who was coupled with Inseparable, was fifith in the six-horse race. The winner, ridden by John Heckmann, ran the mile in 1:35% and paid .60 as second choice in the wagering. Super Devil, carrying 110 pounds, displayed good speed from the start, although Rush Prince set the early pace, and En Fleur was in second position. Nearing the stretch turn Heckmann called on his mount and the three-year-old responded in moving up between horses. Super Devil was a couple of lengths to the good at midstretch and increased his advantage as he went. Living Doll, who ran for a ,000 claiming price at Sportsmans Park, easily bested the nine-year-old Inseparable, who came from last place. The others tired badly. Roman Heart Breaks Track Record Roman Heart, speedy daughter of Roman — Hasty Kiss, by .Haste, who was bred by her owner, E. P. Metz of Covington, Ky., sliced two-fifths seconds from the five-furlong track record when, she ran the distance in :58% and won the fourth race by three lengths. The old mark of :59 was set by American Byrd back in 1938 and equaled by Lea Lane early in the meeting. Roman Heart, who, after having been defeated three times in Kentucky this spring, won her last start here by seven lengths, got to the front soon after the start and led all the way, with Steve Brooks in the saddle. Olympia Lou, an odds-on favorite, was second for the first half mile, then tired and finished third. Bobbelle was second. Ed Meloncon saddled two of the first three winners in Tordar and Sorority, both of which are owned by Edward L. Dabbs and were ridden by apprentice Tommy ONeil. Tordar took the second race by coming from behind to complete a 8.60 Daily Double, while Sorority met with little opposition "in the stretch in her event. The afternoon started off with a victory for a first-time starting two-year-old named Dont Fail Me, owned by Jimmy Emery and ridden by W. M. Cook. The juvenile defeated Carol S. in a hard-fought finish, with the favored Track General winding up fourth. Dont Fail Me, who is by Bush-wacker — Refresh, by Petee-Wrack, was bred by Emery. . Buster Jim, recently acquired by R. T. McDonnel, came through at the first asking for his new owner when he took honors in the fifth, with John Adams doing the riding. Adams saved his mount to the last eighth, then sent him up on the outside of First Heir, and Buster Jim won by a half-length. He was the favorite.
