Driver Killed at Hilliards HILLIARDS, Ohio, June 29.-Hilliards Raceway marked the first tragic accident in its four-year history with the death Monday night of Carl Short in a three-way spill. The 29-year-old sulky driver from New Holland, Ohio, died soon after the accident which occurred at the first quarter pole in the sixth race. Fleet Mite, driven by Dick Seabrook, tripped and fell, and Navy Command, following close behind piled into the fallen horse. Short, driving Navy Command, was thrown from his sulky and landed on his head and shoulders. He was rushed to University Hospital in Columbus but died en route. Seabrook suffered a broken leg and broken hip.
