TRIPLE LIE was nicely steadied racing outside the top pair, gradually wore down SERGEANT MONK to take a clear lead in the drive and lasted to stave off BILLIES BEAM. The latter worked forwardly placed between horses, came to the outside in the last three sixteenths and closed determinedly. NIGHT OFF appeared dangerous rallying in the early stretch, but hung. SERGEANT MONK, taken in hand when unable to reach the early the lead, easily assumed command when shaken up at the far turn, but weakened. PENNINGTON BOY was outrun. KAM-PEI was sluggish early.
