I j j Hopeful Sam Favorite In Fairmount Park Dash Real Sir, Mary H. Seen Main Foes in Jefferson City Purse . By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 29. Hopeful Sam, winner of one out of four starts at this meeting, will be out after his second victory when he sports the silks of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Triplett in the ,500 Jefferson City, six-furlong dash that features the mid-week program here at Fairmount Park. The Triplett star will be meeting a field of six in the head-liner and will have as his main opposition Real Sir and Mary H. TJie Triplett seven-year-old sprinter isnt the fastest horse away froin the gate, but he has real speed once he gets into his best stride. His winning race over this course was impressive from the fact that he came from behind to win going away in 1:11. Hopeful Sam will have to overcome some very shifty speedsters to take the major share of the Jefferson City Purse, but with 111 pounds- up should be right there at the finish, Mary H., from the barn of W. C. Weant, has an abundance of early foot and in all probability will take the lead in the first few strides. In her last outing here she set the pace to the final sixteenth, then gave way to hard pressure. Her one winning race here was good from the fact that she was able to take a six length lead after going first quarter and was able to outlast the strongly closing Cross End. Her time for that winning effort was 1:11. The four-year-old Weant filly will carry equal weight of 111 pounds with Hopeful Sam. Real Sir is making his third start of the current meeting. The M. Whitebrooks fast son of Gilded Knight made a spectacular finish to take the measure of Ella Villa, the favorite, in the last few strides in a 1:11 six-furlong" race. Real Sir will have 114 pounds up for this test, which is two more than he packed in his winning race. His last out here was in a six-furlong race in which Scarlet Time won and Hopeful Sam finished second, he was fourth; M. Lef fler checked in with the two horses Desert Girl and Dark Desert. L. H. Burton was a late arrival with the two horses, Deadline and Surprise Story. Burton owns and trains his own stable. Trainer Elmer Carter checked in at the Cahokia Downs track with the public stable in his charge of four horses. Reade Castle, Mrs. H. R. and Castile owned by R.
