PURIFY went to the front at once, set the pace to the .Stretch under good handling, responded readily when shaken up and won with something left. FIRE, outrun to the upper turn, moved up steadily thereafter, but was unable to reach the top one. NIGHT CABLE, away sluggishly and far back to the last three-eighths mile, closed strongly but could not overtake FIRE. GALAHAD raced nearest PURIFY to the stretch but faltered during the drive. PLEASURE WITH gave a fair effort and had no excuse. IDOL IMAGE, forced wide at the first turn and roughed approaching the stretch, could not get to the leaders when clear. SAM VALLIER could not keep up. SHORT CABLE was never dangerous. GARALORTER was never a serious contender and had no excuse. WENEEDAWYN raced wide. CAFE-AU-LAIT was through after a half mile. BRO. WAR DOLLAR, a sharp factor from the start, responded to strong handling during the stretch run and wore down GRANNY D. in the last sixteenth. The latter, much used racing BURGOO PLAY into defeat, reached the lead between calls during the drive but was unable to hold the winner. CONNIE-JO, outrun to the stretch, finished strongly under brisk handling. ALPHAS CHOICE, forwardly placed and saving ground throughout, could not get to the leaders when set down through the stretch. HASTY BEE raced evenly without mishap. BURGOO PLAY went to the front early, engaged GRANNY D. to the final furlong, then weakened. FRANKS MAUDE lacked early foot and was never dangerous. DORIE, outrun early and in close quarters leaving the backstretch, was sent to the outside at the final turn to secure racing room and, responding to good handling, wore down the leaders to win going away. EXAGGERATED began fast, was much used racing with TINY HEART to the final furlong and was unable to withstand the winner. TINY HEART opened a clear lead entering the stretch, held on well to the last eighth mile, then faltered. JAMES T. lacked early speed, but finished strongly in the middle of the track. GILDED TULIP tired after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. CHIC STAR failed to rally when set down for the drive. GIBSON raced well until inside the stretch, then weakened. MISS TOLTON was outrun. BETHS GIRL had early speed, but failed to stay. CROWN WINNER showed nothing. MRS. G. was through early. HURLER was never prominent. ACE BOUT raced wide. BILLIES ANN went to the front early, raced well to the stretch, but had nothing left for the drive. JAY CEE was outrun and had no mishap. ELLSTON had early speed, but failed to stay. STAR SHOW was never dangerous. PATIO PATTER showed nothing. QUALITY PLUS was far back the entire trip. LIGHT MOON had no ercuse. BOLO BOY had early speed, raced well to the stretch, then broke down.
