River Downs Admitted To TRA Membership NEW YORK, N. Y., June 9.— The Thoroughbred Racing: Associations of the United States today announced the admission of a new member race track, bringing: its roster to 40. Following a meeting of the board of directors, TRA president Amory L. Haskell announced that River Downs, near Cincinnati, Ohio, had been admitted to membership. "This is the first new member enrolled in 1955," Haskell said, "and it brings the TRA membership to a high of 40 race tracks." TRA was organized in 1942 with a charter membership- of 22 racing associations. River Downs, formerly known as Coney Island, conducted its inaugural meeting in 1925. The track, a one-mile oval, is located in the township of Cali- -fornia, 10 miles from Cincinnati. It is operated by River Downs, Inc., of which Leon A. Slavin is president, and is currently conducting a 44-day meeting which opened on May 27 and will close on July 16.
