Coal Heat Stout Choice For River Downs Sprint Hanser Horse Has Won His Last Two Races by Leading Throughout By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, OhioJune 9. — The early week-end program is spotlighted by the running of the WKRC, a local radio stations call letters. For four-year-olds and older horses who run with a ,500 price tag attached, the staging is a six-furlong dash and there are seven candidates in the line-up who will be trying for a portion of the ,800 purse. In addition to the feature, racing secretary Lawrence Bogenschutz has carded two maiden events, one for two-year-olds of the "weaker sex" and the other for sophomores of any sort. Like the feature, the remaining events are for platers and it would be difficult to take a race to make a secondary attraction. 1 Those for the WJKRC include the Refnem Stables Siren Song, the Ben Jo Stables Sun Joss.F. Hansers Coal Heat, White and Le Bus Smooth Going, H. A. Deeps Nu Cole, Dorsey and Mecklings Ruse and R. C. Howards Idle Boy. Coal Heat evidently will stick out like the proverbial sore thumb in this group, and will undoubtedly be an odds-on choice in the betting as the field goes postward. Under the able direction of jockey Julio C. Fernandez, this handsome Hypnotist II. full horse whipped a similar field into submission last Monday and was much the best all the way. The time for the six furlongs was a worthy 1:11% over a fast strip and it appeared in the final three-sixteenths of a mile that Fernandez could have hu; him along to shave several fifths of a ond off the posted time. Son Joss W£l his wake by a good half a length, Ruse fifth, an aggregate six lengths farther ] and Smooth Going was seventh to bi1, I the rear as it were in the 10-horse fij Though the track is "off" at tty j the weatherman predicts some waiv 7 shine and by post time tomorrow it sri be near a normal condition with thel of the new drainage system installed btl this meeting got underway. Idle Boy is the only one of the field ll making a debut at this meeting. The 1 Breeze gelding, however, was claiKiel Howard from M. L. White for ,500 al Sunshine Park meeting at OldsmarJ last March. He was then moved incB ,500 caliber to garner a purse and 4 find this band a bit tougher than tjicf the higher value which he campaigned j cessfully against at Wheeling JDol Wheeling, W. Va., last year. An. outing j the course would be a factor in his f; but according to all reports he caitnri entirely disregarded for one of the n; awards.
