Betsy T and Sweet Josie Arrive At Detroit for Rose Leaves DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia, Mich., June 9. — With the arrival of Marvin E. Affelds Betsy T, a five-year-old Triplicate-sired mare, and Mrs. A. P. Richards Sweet Josie, a three-year-old Easy Mon filly, interest picked up tremendously for the 0,000 Rose Leaves Stakes on Saturday. Betsy T shipped in from Chicago to fill her engagement in the six-furlong filly and mare stake, while Sweet Josie vanned from ThistleDown for the race. Betsy T, rated by trainer Mitchell Silagy, Jr., as one of the best he has ever handled, posted a "six-seven-two" record in 1954 and she has a "two-one-three" standing thus far this year. A capable performer on any type footing, Betsy T recently defeated a fine field at Washington Park after turning six furlongs over a heavy strip in 1:13,%. Following her to the wire were such good ones as Consentina, Mr. Prospector and Nirgil Lad, among others. Sweet Josie, good class winner during her two-year-old campaign and a keen factor in Kentucky this spring against Our Hines, Little Jed, Dogoon and Styrunner, certainly should go well in the week-end fixture.
