Sixth Annual Belmont Ball Set for Tonight Maternity Center to Benefit From Affair; 700 to Attend BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 9. — Under the canvas of the dance tent and in the old Manice mansion that serves as the clubhouse of the Turf and Field Club, the sixth annual Belmont Ball, held always on the eve of the stake race, is to be successfully staged this year for the benefit of the Maternity Center Association. With music by Emil Coleman and a capacity attendance of almost 700, the ball is expected by Mrs. Thomas I.-Laugh-lin, its chairman, to add several thousands more to the charity funds raised by the balls of the past. In addition to the contributions made by the invited ticket holders, there will be substantial sums realized by the auctions to take place, which include the annual one for a shoe racing plate from the hoof of the winner of the next days race, service to Spy Song, donated by Dixiana and. several of the paintings and drawings made by the society of illustrators during their visit to the big track and which have been on display in the paddock for the past two weeks. . -» Serving with Mrs. Laugnlin have been Mrs. George D. Widener as honorary chairman, Mrs. Kenyon Boocock and Mrs. Catherine K. -Murphy as co-chairman; Mrs. bodge Sloane, of the dinner committee; Mrs. Vincent Astor, program committee; Mrs. Harry Dorsey Watts, awards committee and Miss Leslie Boocock, debutante committee.
