TIGER WANDER quickly raced to close contention and, gaining" slowly on COLONEL WILSON after entering the final furlong, took command but was doing his very best at the end to hold HOMEPLACE. The latter dropped some distance back after breaking well and did not . become prominent until midstrelch was reached, then closed fast and would likely have won in a few more strides. COLONEL WILSON headed the field early and, showing good speed in the going, resisted rather stubbornly when challenged, but was not good enough for the first two. CHERRY failed to be a serious contender in the early stages, but finished with good courage. SKEPTICAL KID had good early speed. DOC nv EGGERS and FIRST LAP tired in the stretch.
