Coopers Homer Paces Cubs To Victory Oyer Bucs, 6-2 PITTSBURGH Pa., June 9 UP.— Reserve catcher Walker Cooper hit a tie-breaking seventh-inning home run today, and the Chicago Cubs added three more runs in the eighth to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 today. Jim King, Cubs rookie right fielder, struck out for the first time in his major league career in the sixth inning, when he missed a low outside pitch. King had gone through all of spring training and 48 official times at bat this season without fanning. Lefty Paul Minner allowed only six hits in gaining his fifth victory in seven decisions.
