Senate Committee Okays Bill * To Aid Southern Illinois Track? SPRINGFIELD, 111., June 9— The Senate today received a hill to provide tafc relief for two southern Illinois race tracks "so they might not have to go out pi business." The Senate Revenue Committee approved the measure Wednesday after Sen. Everett R. Peters R.-St. Joseph explained that Fairmount and Cahokia Downs in the East St. Louis area probably would not reopen next year if tax relief is not granted them. The bill would decrease the 6 per cent state tax on money bet at Illinois traces to 4 per cent when the daily total falls to 00,000 or less. _ Peter said the state would lose abotfll 00,000 a year from the two tracks if the bill is passed but prdbably would lose ,500,000 if the tracks were allowed to go out of business. f
