Bartlett; bred by Calumet Farm. IN GATE-3:46J. OFF AT 3:461 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. HASTY SUN saved ground while racing evenly to the stretch, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and, resocnding to punishment, disposed of the leaders and Jield FREE LUNCH safe but won with little left. FREE LUNCH, outrun early and racing extremely wide during the last three-eighths mile, closed fast but could not overtake the top one, although probably best. RELICS WAR took command at once, set the, pace until inside the stretch, then drifted out badly and could not stay with the leaders. PSYCHIC DREAM gave a good effort and had no mishap. PIGEONETTE bore out badly entering the stretch. B. PROMPT dislikea the muddy track and swerved repeatedly during the drive. SILENCE had early foot but failed to stay. CATHOY VALLEY was never prominent SPEEDY VAN tired during the stretch run. SAMMY S. could not handle the muddy track. CHIEF JOE, well placed from the start, stumbled when set down for the stretch run, recovered under strong handling and, disposing of MISS SKIDMORE, held WHY STEP safe. WHY STEP gradually worked way forward to the stretch, closed determinedly under brisk urging but could not overtake the top one. MISS SKIDMORE, much-used racing with CARBON to the stretch, reached the lead during the drive, then faltered. JUST A MOMENT lacked early foot and raced extremely wide through the stretch. MILLIE BARBOO could not threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. KERNEL STU could not keep up. HANNAH T. disliked the muddy track and tired. BIG LIFT raced wide. PIETS SON, rank at the post, showed nothing in the running. GRAND PARIS was never prominent and drifted out badly during the stretch run. CARBON began fast, raced with MISS SKIDMORE for three-eighths, then gave way. ROSEFLARE raced far back throughout. . RUTHIE S. went to the front early, entered the stretch with a good lead but was briskly ridden during the drive to retain a clear advantage to the finish. JAY CEE, well placed from the outset, saved ground during the drive but was unable to reach the winner. FREEDOM FIRST raced well until inside the stretch, then faltered. LITTLE DOC began fast but dropped back immediately after the start, then was unable to threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. FLO D. lacked early foot and was never dangerous. JEAN THE JOKER tired after-showing early speed. IN DEEP disliked the mudy track. LANDMARK GAL raced wide. CRAFTY SLEUTH showed nothing. Scratched— 500812 High Lama, 111. Jean the Joker claimed by R. P. Flynn; bred by C. A. ONeil, Jr. IN GATE-5:05. OFF AT 5:051 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. GAME PRINCE, in hand after beginning alertly, was forced to go wide entering the stretch, remained in the middle of the track for the drive, closed strongly under hard urging and wore down GIFTED HAZEL in the concluding strides. The latter moved up fast approaching the stretch, reached the lead but was bothered repeatedly during the drive by MAXS REWARD and was unable to withstand the winner although probably best. MAXS REWARD took command after entering the backstretch, bore in during the drive and, seriously impeding GIFTED HAZEL in spite of his riders efforts to keep him straight, could not overtake the latter. TRICKY HOMER tired alter racing well to the stretch. MISS ETERNAL swerved to the inside immediately after the break, made a mild bid after a half mile, then weakened. HERES JAKE had early foot but failed to stay. DUSKY DOLL raced far back the entire trip. Scratched— 509072 pickmen, 112. Miss Eternal claimed by M. H; VanBerg. Maxs Reward claimed by Victoria Stable.
