He climaxed his 1956 campaign with a victory in the James H. Connors Memorial at Narragan-sett Park, but since then has1 visited the winners circle only once. Victorious at Jamaica in April v Big Paddys only victory of the season was accomplished at Jamaica in April when he led a field of allowance racers over the mile and a sixteenth of slop from wire to wire. He reached the finish line over three lengths in front of Jockos Walk while carrying 122 pounds. Thus he showed his ability to negotiate a distance of ground as well as being able to carry weight. In his Connors score last year,, he only toted 111 pounds while finishing in front of Culpeper, Nah Hiss and Jockos Walk, also at a mile and one-sixteenth. In his last start here, he earned runner-up laurels to Stepping Boy in a six furlongs dash. Stepping Boy, a vastly improved son of Piet — Stepping Miss, started his 1957 season as a maiden, but now owns five victories, a second and two thirds in 13 starts. He has shown steady improvement during his sophomore season, and while beaten off, the records show that he finished second to Boston Doge in the Inaugural Handicap here. In his last triumph, he defeated Big Paddy, Mr. Marcey and Eamohe, some of his foes tomorrow, in a six furlongs event. He carried 116 pounds that afternoon, and the Governors will be his first test over a distance of ground. Golden Sun, the only newcomer in the starting lineup, checked in from Delaware with two straight wins to his credit. In a six furlongs allowance race he led Pro-Brandy and Cosmic Force to the wire by a length and one-half, while racing the distance in 1:11%, under an impost of 114 pounds, one less than his assignment tomorrow. Previously, he won a mile test in going away fashion by two lengths, finishing in front of Buddy Poppers and Brighton Dam. He has been lightly raced this year, facing the starter only five times, with a second Continued on Page Fifty-Two Big Paddy Has Six Rivals In Governors at Suffolk Continued from Pago Thre* and third to go along with his pair of wins. Zolt enters the Governors with a rather imposing record of his own. In 11 starts this year, the son of Lighthouse — Rozs Rainbow has failed to bring back a check on only one occasion, that in his first start of the year. Since then he garnered.two wins, five seconds, and three thirds. He has been facing topnotch competition in all his starts, and could prove to be the sleeper in the Governors. Challefont earned a tainted victory over Big Paddy at Lincoln Downs this spring when given the purse after finishing three lengths behind the winner. Big Paddy bumped Challefont leaving the gate that afternoon, and after finishing second was awarded the race on a disqualification. Since then, Challefont won the Bill Mc-Auley Memorial Handicap, also at Lincoln Downs, for his only other score of the season. Mr. Marcey defeated a band of allowance « racers here earlier in the session, while he showed excellent form at New Orleans this t winter when competing against the likes of Tenacious and Shan Pac. He holds a victory over Tenacious and finished second to Shan Pac during his winter campaign. Eamohe, who has started four times this year, holds a victory over Big Paddy last year, and may be returning to that excellent form. He finished second to Battle Camp in his last outing, and with apprentice David DeRoin in the saddle will not be lacking for support.
