OAKHURST dropped back while hemmed in along the inside going to the far turn, finally secured room to be taken outside and, splitting horses in the stretch, was along in the last yards. HALT DENNY saved ground into the stretch and, while finishing willingly, xould not match speed with the winner. POPADARIS rushed to a good lead before a half mile, then weakened under pressure in the final sixteenth. TANKER made a good move to the leaders midway of the final turn but lacked a solid response in the drive. PLAIN JIM reached close contention into the stretch, then hung.
