Assign Skipper Bill 120. Impost for Long Branch Due de Fer Rates Pound Less For Monmoutri Cap Wednesday By Staff Correspondent MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 21.Circle M. Farms Skipper Bill topped a list of 32 nominees weighted this morning by racing secretary John Turner Jr. for the tenth modern renewal of the 5,000 added Long Branch Handicap, a mile and a sixteenth fixture to be presented here on Wednesday, June 26. The six-year-old son of Errard was assigned 120 pounds, four less than he carried to victory in this same race last season when he was in the midst of a winning streak that also included the Salvator Mile over this same course. Skipper Bill has been lightly campaigned this season, but he gave a good effort here last Wednesday in finishing second to Nahodah in the recent renewal of the Salvator Mile. Skipper Biir shouldered 115 pounds in the Salvator and was beaten eight lengths, the winner establishing a new track record for the distance of 1:34%. In capturing the Long Branch Handicap last year Skipper Bill was a driving winner over Cedar Hill arid established the standing track record of -1:41 for the mile and one-sixteenth. • J. Warfield Rodgers Due de Fer was assigned 119 pounds, just one less than given Skipper Bill. This seasoned son of Spy Song won a division of the Oceanport Handicap in 1956, and the latest renewal of that six-furlong event was his"most recent outing this season. In the race Due de Fer ran into interference at the far turn and finished far behind the winning Decathlon., The Oceanport was his first eastern appearance since capturing two handicaps at middle distances last winter at Santa Anita. Grouped at 118 pounds are Cedar Farms Cedrus, Mrs. Milton Erlangers Rasper TX and Mrs. Irving Gushens Star Rover. Each has won at Monmouth; Cedrus in an overnight yesterday, Rasper H. in his American debut last season, and Star Rover in last summers Select and Lamplighter Handicaps.
