Six Sprinters to Oppose Blue Agent Has Fertile Lands * As Principal Rival Snider Speedster Coming Off Splendid Sportsmans i Effort on Saturdays Card , SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 4. — J. W. Sniders Blue Agent, a transient ■who has been kept quite busy running at Tanforan, Augua Caliente, Oaklawn Park, , and Keeneland in the last 12 months, ; makes his second start of the meeting in the Semester Purse here tomorrow after- : noon and if he runs back to his recent excellent performance in the ,000 Chicago * Handicap, he looms as the one to beat, i The seven-year-old gelded son of Special | Agent — Bluelarks, by Blue Larkspur, is to I face six foes in the five -eights of a mile dash, a distance that has proven exceed- i ingly popular with horsemen who are not ready to run their charges at the longer routes. Listed to start are Marion H. Van-Bergs Play Again, J. McElroys Frank Munns, F M. Arrigos Riot, Mrs. J. L. Ches-neys Lady Lureen, William H. Bishops Donaris and Perne L. Grissoms Fertile Lands. Blue Agent was acquired by his owner through the halter route for ,000 during the recent Oaklawn Park meeting and since then has shown good speed. His best effort came at Keeneland when, in an allowance race that brought good horses together, he finished second to Acme, with such as Catsmeow and Eternal Bomb in back of him. The veteran showed a fondness for this track in the Chicago when he finished in back of Late , Thread, Bodens Pal, Super-wolf and Dad at a mile and one -sixteenth. He was close to the early pace and assumed command nearing the stretch when he tired badly, indicating that he will find the shorter distance of the Semester to his benefit. Shuffled Back in Inaugural Fertile Lands could very easily prove a stanch contender, even though he was badly beaten in his only start of the meeting. The four-year-old son of Reaping Reward — Sun Mixa, by Sun Briar was a starter in the Inaugural Handicap and was shuffled back badly and had no chance to get going in his best stride. That, however, was his first start of the year and he possibly needed it as a tightener for future good efforts. Last year, after winning the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park, the gelding was brought here and proceeded to dominate most of the handicaps at this course. Before departing for Detroit, where he engaged in a successful campaign, he whipped such good ones as Late Thread, Good Turn and others. He established the fact that he likes this track and should command considerable support in the wagering marts. Riot, the beautifully-bred daughter of Whirlaway — Miss Dogwood, by Bull Dog, could possibly be favorite in the good field, for he comes off of a good race in back of Mae Agnes over this track, with those in back of him being Rose Bed, Elkhorn, Rousing Night, Tiger Tom, Vesuvio and Play Again. That contest was over the seven-furlong route and Riot was hustled to the front immediately after the start, and he did not relinquish the lead until the last stride or two when he succumbed to Mae Agnes cyclonic rush. The gelding started in good company , , several times during the Fair Grounds meeting at New Orleans during the winter , and handled himself creditably. Bishops Donaris was a beaten favorite in his only start of the meeting and there I are many who are willing to discount the race entirely. The gelding showed much better speed during his Fair Grounds campaign | and it may be that he needed the education around the local short turns before turning on his best speed.
