Veteran Sprinters In Jobstown Purse Flying Weather, Dr. Almac# Blue Holly, Northern Deb In Garden State Event GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 4. — The Jobstown, an allowance race at six furlongs for four-year-olds and over, is the featured offering for the third day of the spring meeting. This event which carries a purse of ,000 attracted seven starters of which Northern Deb and Mr. Kilroy will race coupled as the Jerry McCarthy Stable entry. The Jobstown is the sixth of the eight-race program. Seven of the races are under claiming conditions and no dearth of entries was in evidence at the time of closing. In addition to the also eligible list in force on four of the races, 33 horses were excluded. These in excess of requirement were made for the first, third and final race. The Jobstown drew its starters from the ranks of second flight type of sprinters. Weight concessions for failure in certain types of races or in money won, reduced the poundage on the majority of the nominees from the original scale, four-year-olds 122, and older 124. Blue Holly, owned by G. C. Hunt, is the top weight with 122 pounds and Northern Deb, a recent acquisition by the Bostonian, Jerry McCarthy, is the lightweight with 105 pounds. Looms as Pre-Race Favorite Flying Weather, with 112 and under the D. K. Kerr ownership, looms up as a pre-race favorite with the contention expected from Dr. Almac, owned by Mrs. Jimmie Stewart. Picture Card from the Woodland Farms, is making his seasonal appearance but this one has speed and is a likely prospect. Faraway, owned by Glen Riddle, and Mr. Kilroy, the other part of the McCarthy entry, round out the field. Dr. Almac was seasoned during the Havre de Grace meeting and improvement over that outing can be anticipated. The Daily Double, comprising the first and second races, appears a wide open affair. Sprinting platers, a full field of 12 is assured, and two-year-olds from the claiming ranks, round out this offering. The Daily Double was revived this year after a lapse of several seasons and Garden State patrons voiced their approval of its restoration in full measure if the opening days support can be known as a criterion. Of the eight races, sprinters and distance performers are treated on equal terms. Four sprints and four distance offerings comprise the program. The third race is at six furlongs and starters carry a claiming price tag of ,500. Eighteen more than needed were named for this offering with four placed on the eligible and fourteen excluded. The fourth race is for fillies and mares while the fifth is for distance platers. The seventh is over he one-mile and 70 yards distance, a division of the fifth and the nightcap will be contested over the mile and a furlong distance.
