J., May 4. — Sky Miracle, racing for Brookmeade Stable of Mrs. Dodge Sloan and with jockey Job Jessop in the iron, stood stretch drive in courageous fashion to win the Meadow Brook, the best offering here today. The son of Teddys Comet and Harlem Belle was a half-length to the good of Hal Price Headleys Yes You. Four lengths back in third place and unable to menace the leaders was Choice Cut, racing for J. H. Rouse. Eight started in this event and the finish was close and deceiving, due to the fact that Yes You was drifting out sharply while the winner was racing along the inner rail. The gap that separated the pair, spread across the better part of the width of the track. This six-furlong event was fashioned for the higher-priced three-year-olds, carrying halterable price tags ranging from high of 5,000 down to 2,000. Floating Earlier Winner The score rounded out a double for the fashionable New York-owned menage, for Floating had gained the major award of the secondary feature, the previous race. Jockey Jessop shared in the double as well as trainer Preston M. Burch. The Garden State Park turnstiles showed drop in attendance from the opening day. The estimated crowd was 12,000 this afternoon, wagering in the tote" department also showed a falling off. Overhead conditions were clear and the track was at its best as attested by the time Sky Miracle hung up, 1:10%. The octet in the Meadow Brook left the starting stalls in good alignment and it was King Chico who went out to set the early pace. He blazed along at a sizzling rate, but Sky Miracle, Choice Cut and Yes You were not far away. At the stretch turn, Jessop called upon the Brookmeade colt and he gained rapidly. He disposed of King Chico after rounding the turn and then nearing the final furlong marker swerved over to the inside. In the meantime, Yes You began to move up and this colt was gaining fast when he suddenly began to drift out. He finished very wide and to many the result was in doubt until the official placing was displayed.
