i Contest Shows Lameness HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., May 4.— King Ranchs Contest, who had been regarded by many as a definite threat for Dixie Handicap honors should Coaltown pass up the race, lost many supporters when he showed lameness following a work here this afternoon. The Sir Gallahad III. five-year-Old went a mile in 1:45 and out a mile and a furlong in 1:58 between races today. A] stakes winner last season, Contest returned to competition here during he current j meeting and impressed greatly while beating a classy field in his most recent appearances. Jockey Mike Basile, who is scheduled to ride him in the Dixie, was astride him this afternoon.
