Shaffer to Arrive in Kentucky Today for Running of Derby CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 4. — E. E. Dale Shaffer, master of Coldstream Stud, and the president of the Michigan Racing Association, which is to operate the Detroit Fair Grounds this season, is due here tomorrow from the Motor City. Until after the Kentucky Derby renewal, Shaffer will commute between here and his thoroughbred nursery, and then depart for Detroit to iron out final details for the opening of the Fair Grounds track on Friday, May 13. Two of the more prominent candidates for the Diamond Jubilee running of the Downs three-year-old classic were foaled at Coldstream, John Kinards Johns Joy, son of Bull Dog and My Auntie, also Frederick W. Hoopers favored Olympia, sired by Heliopolis and from Miss Dolphin.
