Apprentice Howard Craig To Ride at Beulah Meeting COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 4. — Apprentice I Howard Craig, champion rider at Beulah Park last fall, joined the jockey brigade at the Grove City course yesterday. Craig, whose home is in Springfield, checked in from Keeneland, where he rode during the recent meeting. During the past winter, he plied his trade in Florida. At Beulah last fall, the Springfielder skippered 48 winners. Craig, who rides at an even 100 pounds, will have the advantage of the apprentice allowance for only the first two weeks of the meeting. After that, hell be a full-fledged rider. Craig, under contract to N. G. Hills, piloted the first winner of his career at | Woodbine Park in Canada last May 22. On that occasion, he won aboard the lone-shot, Hasty Sage.
