Eight Seek Apache Purse On Cranwood Park Card Indchem Likely Favorite Over Cisred, Bobby E., Harvest Time By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent CRANWOOD PARK, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, May 13. — The -heavy rains of last night and early *this morning have left the track a veritable sea of slop and mud. The horsemen, however, showed no reluctance to enter their charges for the nine-race program and the events staged for the most part have maximum starting fields of eight named, as well as the maximum number of the "also eligible" list The seventh, and customary spot for the feature, is a five-furlong-dash for three-year-olds and older horses. Endowed with the title The Apache, the field drawn overnight in the ,200 event, includes M. D. Haynes Bobby E., O. I. Beavers Second Sight, the Dorchester Farms Harvest Time, K. E. Gordon and P. E. Benshoffs Sickle Star, I. G. Da vies Cisred, Rebecca G. Collins Indchem, H. W. LehJs Dr". Russell and Ji W. Bilotte.s Bharata. Indchem will be making his debut at this course. The Gallant Duke gelding, however, comes well recommended and has been performing, impressively this season. In one of his winning efforts at the Charles Town meeting he was a two and one-half lengths victor over D. K. Kerr Sr.s Ramble Away and covered the four and one-half furlongs in :52% over a slow racing strip. In all probability, the course will be "off" for this event and a return to that performance would make him dangerous. Cisred turned in a strong third to Slowey and Petrichs Deeside and the A and H Stables Grace Morse in the eighth race here on the fifth of May. In fact, the Cisneros mare might have been closer at the end had she not had trouble getting around the sharp turns. Bobby E., too, finished third in his outing and was behind the A and H Stables Safe Arrival and J. Levines Boston Hero. Although never too close to the leaders at any time, he reportedly can do better and has been training well. The eighth race, a six-furlong affair for sophomores, exclusively shapes up as. an ideal co-feature. Including an entry there are nine named on the overnight and it is quite probable that A. W. Messersmiths Scrub will carry the bulk of support. The Callador gelding graduated from the maiden ranks here last week and had in his wake E. B. Smiths Momoney. The strip was slow that day and at the eighth pole of the six furlongs he was four on top, to wind up a length in front without undue pressure. Jerrys Nebb, who races in the interest of C. L. Leach, is another which graduated from the non-winners ranks at the meeting and will also be trying for a consecutive victory.
